Difficult People: Communication and Conflict Under Pressure

The Learning Experience

Participants learn practical strategies to manage challenging personalities, communicate effectively under pressure, de-escalate conflict, establish appropriate boundaries, and navigate difficult conversations with greater confidence and professionalism.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this training session, participants will be able to:


  • identify the different types of difficult people you may encounter. 
  • Describe the key characteristics and behaviors of each type. 
  • Describe the key characteristics of common conflict styles 
  • Understand and navigate the various conflict styles and how they influence interactions. 
  • Apply toolbox strategies to adapt to and effectively manage challenges when dealing with difficult individuals. 
  • Participate in hands-on role-playing exercises to practice real-world strategies for managing difficult personalities. 
  • Recognize when a conflict is unresolved or serious and know the appropriate steps to take for resolution or escalation. 
  • Reflect on personal behaviors and communication styles to identify opportunities for growth and strategies for handling difficult situations more effectively. 
  • Recognize cultural and generational differences
