The United States has an important relationship with the 574 federally-recognized tribes and, through the Bureau of Indian Affairs, is responsible for the allocation and distribution of funds that support the needs of approximately 1.9 million American Indians and Alaska Natives. Upper Mohawk, Inc. helped to complete a comprehensive assessment of all funding streams and processes used to allocate and distribute these important funds, leading to four quality recommendations for process improvement.

We worked to improve travel voucher timeliness and reduce delinquent travel orders, while providing quality assurance, analysis of non-appropriated funds and defense travel system support.

These efforts include researching the ownership of SDAs through searches of land transactions, individual Indian money accounts, and historical data and analyzing past distribution and tribial litigation efforts

These efforts include researching the ownership of SDAs through searches of land transactions, individual Indian money accounts, and historical data and analyzing past distribution and tribial litigation efforts. By the end of the contract, we exceeded the agency’s goals for SDA and Youpee account distribution by 300%.

Upper Mohawk, Inc. assisted GE Aviation, a leader in jet engine manufacturer for the military, with cost and termination proposals and audits of tools, causing the government to lower the government’s long standing risk assessment of GE Aviation’s proposal analysis efforts from high to medium, the lowest rating available for negotiated procurements.

UMI developed a custom training for over 3,000 students in the Department of the Interior and Native American Tribes. The program aimed to support the “trust” relationship involved in Trust Management and understand the policies, processes, and procedures.

UMI presented an 8-10 day medical training program in Alaska, California, Arizona, and Minnesota. This included First Responder training, CPR, Automated External Defibrillator instruction, and 24-hour Community Emergency Response training.
